'Warm Ice Cream' is a memory project, an exercise in remembering. One of the infamous desserts in communist times in Poland was called 'warm ice cream'. It was a waffle filled and topped with mousse (vanilla or chocolate). It tasted strange, for sure, but I do miss it in a way. I grew up in a typical block of flats district. My family moved there when I was 1 year old so my whole childhood was spent in that specifically designed area.
The geographical area of my childhood becomes a grid, on which I project the events that I think I am able to remember. Is it the topographic memory at work here or an episodic memory? Which of the events are true and really happened? Are there some that I made up somehow, in the imperfect process of remembering? For sure some details changed, moved around, repositioned. Does it matter though?
